Burmese Shaman

Had the pleasure of meeting U Shein Sayagi earlier this year for a shoot and interview at his home in Yangon. Sayagi is known throughout Myanmar for his healing abilities using a gold ash powder that he makes through an alchemical process.

Recycling feature in Globe and Mail's Report On Business Magazine

This was definitely the most interesting assignment I had while I was back in Canada last year. Toronto writer John Lorinc and I produced this feature for Report On Business Magazine profiling companies using innovative approaches to recycling. It was a fascinating project to work on and even got to blow the dust off my Mamiya and put it to use for this. Two of the shoots took me to British Colombia which I'm embarrassed to say was my first time out West in Canada! The online version of the feature can be viewed here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/rob-magazine/recycling-feels-good-makes-money-too/article2384407/

Couple Pics in PDN

A couple pictures of mine were awarded recently in Photo District News' World In Focus Contest. With the support of the South Asian Journalists Association I've made 2 trips now to the Jaintia Hills in India to document the unregulated coal mining industry there. More pictures and information can be found on the National Post website: http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/03/08/life-as-tough-as-coal-photographs-from-indias-rat-hole-coal-mines-in-the-jaintia-hills/
